Aquatics at The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center

Low Impact Exercise at Your Visalia Health Club

The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center Aquatic Department offers a wide variety of programs for our Visalia health club members and guests to enjoy. Our pools include a 25-yard multi-purpose lap pool and warm water therapy pool where our instructors offer water aerobics classes. No matter your fitness level, our aquatic area is a great place to increase your strength and endurance through our fun classes and programs.

Lap Swimming

No matter where you find yourself on the fitness scale, lap swimming is an outstanding way to increase your cardiovascular endurance without causing much impact to the joints. Few exercises can provide the level of fitness gained by swimming. Our aquatic center offers stroke technique instruction as well to help you get the most out of your workout.

Aquatic Exercise Classes

Water workouts provide a great way to reach your health and fitness goals no matter your level of fitness or potential limitations. The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center offers group exercise classes in our aquatic center that vary in intensity levels to ensure each member gets a workout best suited for their fitness level.

Water Therapy

Joint fatigue and chronic pain can prevent many people from reaching their fitness goals. People suffering from conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, joint replacement recovery can benefit greatly from use of our warm water therapy pool and aquatic classes such as those offered at our Visalia fitness center.

Exercise in our warm water therapy pool during Open Aquatic Therapy to reach your fitness goals at your own pace. These specified hours are designed to help those recovering from injuries or suffering from chronic conditions.

Pool Rules

All facility rules are applicable and enforced in the pool areas. Due to the health risk of elevated body heat, it is not permitted for children under 12 years of age to use the spa.

The pools are open to all members while classes are scheduled. However, please remember to be courteous to class participants and our instructors. Please do not swim through the class or hold conversations while classes are in progress. During busy pool times members may need to wait or work together to share lanes.

Please observe the following rules while using the pool:

  • Horseplay, such as running, splashing, shoving, or dunking is not permitted
  • Spitting, spouting water, or blowing nose in the water is prohibited
  • Glass containers or metal objects are not allowed in the pool areas
  • Showers are to be taken before entering the pools or spas
  • Individuals with sores or rashes are not allowed in the pool area
  • Hair that is shoulder length or longer should be secured with a swim cap or rubber band
  • Aqua-socks or shoes are strongly recommended for all members in and around the pool area
  • Food, drinks, smoking and gum chewing are prohibited in the pool areas (water bottles are permitted)
  • Diving is not allowed
  • Please refrain from swimming laps in the Warm Water Therapy Pool
  • No sitting or hanging on the lane lines
  • Appropriate bathing attire must be worn
  • Members and guests under the age of 18 (eighteen) are not allowed on the water treadmills
  • Members 12 – 15 years of age have full use of the pools with direct supervision of an adult member over 18 years old
  • Children under 12 years of age are permitted to participate in family swim with the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian or our youth aquatic activities but are not permitted in the pool outside of scheduled activities

Class Descriptions

Come on in — the water’s nice all year round at The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center! Whether you are 6 months old or 100, we have an aquatic class fit for you. Group exercise in the water can be an excellent way to reach your personal fitness goals. High-, moderate-, and low-intensity classes are available.

  • AquaBata: This high-intensity interval fitness class takes place in the shallow water of our lap pool and uses the Tabata format with varied intensity to improve aerobic and anaerobic conditioning to maximize energy expenditure
  • Aqua Fit: Recommended for those in good physical condition, this high-intensity class is designed to improve cardiovascular fitness and overall tone
  • Deep Water Intervals: If you’re looking for a high-intensity class, this non-impact, interval fitness class may be a good choice. The program alternates between traveling and stationary cardiovascular work and toning. Participants will be suspended in deep water using a flotation belt
  • Open Aquatic Therapy: Take advantage of our Warm Water Therapy Pool for those who are recovering from injuries or suffering from chronic conditions. This unique exercise environment is available for members to work on their own Aquatic Therapy program in a quiet, individual setting
  • Specialized Aquatic Exercise II: Increase mobility and function by performing low impact exercises from mild to moderate intensity. This class is ideal for seniors and persons with limiting physical conditions
  • WW Aqua Fit: Improve your cardiovascular fitness and overall tone with our moderate-intensity fitness class that takes place in the Warm Water Therapy Pool

Learn-To-Swim Programs

The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center offers many different swim instruction programs for every fitness level and every intensity. Group swim lessons offer a great way for children to have a great time while improving their independence in the water. We also offer private lessons to help participants feel more confident in their stroke and lap times.

Our learn-to-swim programs include:

  • Group Swim Lessons [LTS – Learn To Swim]: These two-week sessions are designed to help children ages 6 months – 10 years old engage in a structured class format where they will learn to swim based on their current abilities. Participants will be screened individually and placed in an appropriate class for their skill level, taught by Visalia’s finest swim instructors. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited.   • Parents & Pollywogs: For children ages 6 months – 2 years old, this 3-week class helps little ones feel more comfortable with the water through learning basic swimming skills and water safety. Parents must attend each class with their child and be in the water with them at all times. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Call (559) 624-3421 for more information.
  • Private Swim Lessons: Receive private, individual instruction from one of our certified instructors. Private lessons are available year-round for those ages 6 months and up. Sessions will include six 30-minute sessions scheduled at your convenience
  • STP (Swim Team Prep): For swimmers ages 6 – 14 years old who are currently on a swim team or are planning to join, The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center offers higher intensity race training. Participants will first undergo an evaluation where they must be able to swim the entire length of the pool without assistance. Registration and program fees will be required. Regularly Scheduled Aquatic Events

Our Visalia aquatic center also offers events for members to enjoy the pool outside of scheduled classes and instruction.

These activities include:

  • Hydrostatic Weighing: Find out more about your body composition with our advanced hydrostatic weighing equipment. Register for your spot on the first Saturday of each month, where our exercise physiology staff will perform testing in the Therapy Pool from 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
